Connection Hub

BCP – Castlelyons Connected Hub

In May 2021, the parish of Castlelyons and the Community Centre were successful in becoming a member of the Department of Rural and Community Development Connected Communities initiative, https://myconnectedcommunity.ie. eHealth:
Using high-speed connectivity, BCPs can be used for online medical consultations, counseling and supporting the use of medical devices, and can also allow for a range of remote clinical interactions.

Education and Training:
Many BCPs are already places of learning. From essential skills training to the pursuit of sports and hobbies, the importance of community spaces for self-improvement is clear. That’s why BCPs will be supported to use digital connectivity to add more courses and offer a much more diverse range of training and education opportunities.

Working with a number of partners, including the National Hub Network and Grow Remote, BCPs will be supported to provide remote working facilities for local people, reducing commutes and supporting community development.

Arts and Culture:
BCPs will be used as places for creativity and sharing skills, talents, and ideas. Whether facilitating online arts groups, musical instruction, or film festivals – each BCP has the potential to become a museum, concert venue or centre of excellence with a nationwide reach.

This is a great addition to our village and over the coming weeks we will be setting up a versatile venue with spaces to suit a variety of activities: working space for the remote worker, a study space for the online student, a tutorial space for the teacher/lecturer, a treatment room for holistic care, a practice room for music lessons, training space for first aid responder, manual handling, the opportunities are endless.

The Hub will be a creative, flexible space where you can plug, play, study and work. The Hub will have individual spacious desk space, to fit you, your laptop, files and high speed broadband (up to 150 mps). Desks/space are available to hire by individuals or companies, at excellent rates, on a morning, daily, weekly or monthly basis, depending on their needs. The Hub is open to anyone who needs a desk on a flexible or permanent basis. A boardroom for meetings or conferences will can also be made available.
